Paul is artistic director of the National Theatre of Scotland's inaugural company in residence Blood of the Young, for whom he has directed Daphne Oram's Wonderful World of Sound (in co-production with Tron Theatre Company), Secret Show 1, and Golden Arm Theatre Project.
In a freelance capacity, Paul recently directed the CATS award nominated production of Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape (Tron Theatre Company), as well as We Are A Peaceful People (Take Me Somewhere), In Other Words (Hope Theatre, London) and Blackout (New Room Theatre/Showroom).
His recent assistant directing work includes Anything That Gives Off Light (The TEAM/ National Theatre of Scotland/ Edinburgh International Festival), Lanark: A Life in Three Acts (Citizens Theatre/ Edinburgh International Festival), Happy Days, Ghosts (both Tron Theatre Company) and Seven Hungers (Company of Wolves).
This summer Paul was the associate director of the National Theatre of Scotland's Fringe First award winning production of How to Act by Graham Eatough.
He is an associate lecturer at the University of the West of Scotland and has taught at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Glasgow, and Royal Holloway University.
