Eszter MarsalkóEszter is an Edinburgh-based director and dramaturg working across theatre, opera, dance and puppetry, originally from Budapest. Her mission is to create world-class theatre that is both relevant and essential to audiences.
Eszter believes in free collaboration as a tool to creating worlds more beautiful and complex than our own. Diversity and curiosity are the life and blood of Eszter's work that is in turn provocative, playful, entertaining and abstract. Eszter has collaborated with artists of all disciplines on projects ranging from devised performance, music theatre, contemporary dance, opera, puppetry and new writing to Shakespeare. Eszter has worked with Volksbuehne (Berlin), the Hungarian State Opera, the Royal Lyceum Theatre, the Weimar National Theatre, Scottish Opera, Vigszinhaz (Budapest), Curious Seed, Puppet Animation Scotland, Ipdip Theatre, Brite Theater, Plain Sight, Clydebuilt Theatre etc. Eszter is a founding member of artist collective Snap Elastic. Snap Elastic's latest piece 'Puffin' - directed by Eszter - will be touring Scotland in November 2018. Eszter is currently working with the Royal Lyceum Theatre and developing work with Nordland Visual Theatre (Norway). |
